The Beach
The villa is a leisurely 5 minute walk from the beach in Atlanterra, the Cabo de Garcia. With the exception of the occassional weekend evening fishermen, the beach is usually fairly empty as there is very little public parking nearby. Often the water is calm, but being on the Atlantic there can also be some good waves which can be enjoyed both in the water, in kayaks or on belly boards, as the pictures show.
In Spring, the beach is awash with color as fields of wildflowers suddenly appear.
The walk from Miramar to the Roman Ruins at Bolonia is wonderful at all times of the year but is particularly beautiful in the spring, when the ground is carpeted with a myriad of wild flowers. Most days you can see Tangiers clearly from the villa and, at night, the individual lights of the houses, and from the lighthouse at the end of our bay you can see the Tif Mountains of Northern Africa.
Marshmallow roasts are a treat on the beach - but make sure the wood is dry. We have spent many evenings trying, unsuccessfully, to light damp wood.
